Do you feel as though your retail store isn’t getting the traffic it could be? Maybe you feel as though you need to make a positive change but don’t know how to go about doing this.
Either way, now is the time for you to start increasing your bottom line, by taking note of the factors that could be influencing your sales.
The Weather
Mother Nature has a way of influencing how many people pass through your store.
If the weather outside is bad, then this might translate to a 27% decrease in foot traffic. In addition to this, some weather conditions can lower traffic even more. If you see that it’s snowing outside, then people may be tempted to avoid visiting your store for fear of slipping.
One way for you to get around this would be for you to make sure that you grit the outside of your store and that you lay down some mats to give people a bit of extra grip. If you can do this then you are bound to see an improvement.
Parking
If you have nowhere for your customers to park then this will also make it very difficult for them to visit you. If you only have a small car park and it is full every single day then now may be the time for you to expand it.
Make sure that you have enough room for everyone to park and that you also make sure it’s in good condition. If you know that your car park is looking a little worse for wear then one thing you can do is invest in a parking lot repair service. When you do, you can then make sure that people are coming back to you time and time again.
Location
Location is everything. Even in the era of online shopping, people still like to visit retail stores. If you open a convenience store then you will see that they do way better on street corners, because they thrive on business from people who need a few bits, very quickly.
Even if you don’t own a convenience store, you will see way more traffic if you have a store that is near a lot of houses. The best way for you to find out if you are in the best location or not would be for you to determine who your ideal customer is, and then think about where they are. If you can do this then you are bound to find the information you need.
Economy
Another major that could be affecting you would be the economy. It’s so important for you to understand that if you want your company to thrive, then you need to ride the highs and the lows of the economy. During a recession, companies cut expenses, to try and stay more profitable.
It’s possible for you to still attract customers during a recession, but only if you know what you are doing. Make it easier for people to find the solution they need through you, and take the time to offer everything they need when they need it.
While your foot traffic might be down, that doesn’t mean it will stay that way forever. Being prepared and having a plan will help you respond to changes when they occur.
